Saba Yousefi

Violin

Toronto-based Violinist, Music director, educator, and administrator was born in Tehran and immigrated to Toronto at seventeen. She co-founded LyreIran, a collaborative promoting free and accessible educational content for music students worldwide, especially in the Middle East. Saba graduated from the University of Toronto, receiving her Master of Violin Performance and Bachelor of Violin Performance with a minor in Philosophy. Saba is a former member of the University of Toronto Pedagogy School. Over the last few years, she has continued to research new methods for professional musicians to overcome physical injuries and develop innovative mental health methods. Saba is also the co-founder and Violinist of the Chaam Trio, an Iranian trio based in Toronto. Chaam Trio works on improvisation that roots in Traditional Persian music combined with contemporary Western techniques. Saba is the recipient of the University of Toronto Graduate Scholarship for Academic Excellence; her recent collaborations are different workshops for composers, webinars for music students, and various performances for social and cultural causes. Saba is a former member of the Ontario Philharmonic and has performed both as a solo and chamber musician around Canada, the middle east, and China.
