Tanya grew up in Toronto after fleeing Tehran with her family at the age of 3. Although she graduated from UofT with a degree in criminology, her passion is creativity. Tanya’s first children’s book- Joojé Talãee/Golden Chick combines her love for culture & art. Tanya and her father started this project a few years ago, (transliterating Persian nursery rhymes for those who cannot read Persian in the original script) which has been well-received by the Persian diaspora as a way to pass on their language & culture to 2nd & 3rd generation Persian children. Prior to becoming an author/illustrator (& mama of 2), Tanya worked as a yacht chef, taught kids yoga, co-ordinated events at the Ontario Science Centre, and served as an Auxiliary Sergeant with the Toronto Police.
