Fereshteh Ahmadi was born in Kerman in 1972. She graduated from Tehran University College of Fine Arts in 1999 with a degree in Architecture. For years she was active in the two fields of architecture and writing, until she finally put architecture aside to devote herself full-time to several writing. Her first published story was a children’s work published in 2003 entitled “Nameless”. Her collection consist- ing of twelve short stories entitled Everybody’s Sara was published in 2004. The two novels entitled The Forgetful Angel and The Cheese Jungle were published consecutively in 2007 and 2008, and estab- lished her place in Iranian literary society. She added another col- lection of short stories to her list of literary works, entitled Domestic Monsters published in 2016 subsequent to Heatstroke.
In the past twenty years, Fereshteh Ahmadi has come to be known as a literary critic, as her articles and critiques have appeared in various publications. She has been on the literary prize jury for three years for the Golshiri Award, six years for the Once Upon a Time Award, and three years for the Bahram Sadeghi Short Stories Award.
فرشته احمدی متولد ۱۳۵۱ و فارغ‌التحصیل معماری از دانشکده‌ی هنرهای زیباست. از ابتدای دهه هشتاد به طور حرفه‌ای وارد عالم نویسندگی شد. اولین کتابش، کتابی کودکانه بود به نام «بی‌اسم» که انتشارات سروش چاپش کرد و اولین مجموعه داستانش، «سارای همه»، را نشر قصه در سال ۱۳۸۳ منتشر کرد که داستانی از این مجموعه برگزیده‌ی داستان کوتاه جایزه ادبی گلشیری شد. این مجموعه بعدا به انتشارات ققنوس سپرده و چندین بار تجدید چاپ شد. انتشارات ققنوس همچنین رمان «پری فراموشی» را در سال ۱۳۸۶ و رمان «جنگل پنیر» را در سال ۱۳۸۷ از این نویسنده منتشر کرد. مجموعه داستان «گرمازدگی» را افق منتشر کرد و مجموعه داستان «هیولاهای خانگی» را ثالث. فرشته احمدی در تمام این سال‌ها علاوه بر داستان‌نویسی به عنوان منتقد ادبی با مجلات و نشریات ادبی همکاری داشته و به عنوان سرویراستار با انتشارات مختلف کار کرده است. احمدی علاوه بر این‌ها به عنوان مدرس در موسسه هنرفردا، بهاران، خوانش و … کارگاه‌هایی برای نوشتن داستان‌کوتاه، رمان و ویرایش داستان برگزار کرده است.
او در حال حاضر در تورنتو زندگی می‌کند و جلسات داستانی گروه مجال را می‌گرداند و سردبیر مجله فرهنگ و ادب هفته است.
