Behnoosh Behnamnia

Kamancheh, Violin, Composer

Behnoosh Behnamnia is a professional musician who was trained extensively in her native Iran, studying under world-renowned masters of both Kamancheh and violin. These related stringed instruments express a deep cross-cultural understanding of music, that is firmly rooted in Persian traditions as well as its modern and contemporary sounds. Behnamnia has extensive experience as a music teacher and is currently an instructor at the University of Kurdistan (Iran). She has performed as a soloist and with ensembles in Iran and the Netherlands.

BA and MA in Iranian Music Performance from Fine Arts Faculty, Tehran University, Tehran, Iran

Learned Violin with Maestros: Asadollah Malek, Siavash Zendegani, Masoud Hassankhani
Learned Kamancheh with Maestros: Saeed Farajpouri, Ardeshir Kamkar,
Darvish-Reza Monazzami. Also, learned Iranian Traditional repertoire(Radif) by Great Maestros: MohammadReza Lotfi and Daryoush Talaei

Over 20 years experience as a Violin and Kamancheh player and a composer by performing in many concerts as a soloist as well as in cooperation with great masters of Iranian music in various countries. Also cooperates in different albums as a player.

Won the first level prize in playing Kamancheh in 6th Youth Music Festival in Tehran, Iran, 2007
